James Davis Jr. Obituary

“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there ye may be also”. (John 14:3)

James Lawerence Davis Jr., lovingly known as “Dynamite” aka “Riff Raff,” was born on October 1, 1974, in Richmond, TX, to James Lawerence Davis Sr. and Linda Marie Carter Williams. On February 6, 2026, he departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories.

James was a man full of personality and humor. As a child, his family called him “Dynamite,” a name that perfectly matched his lively spirit. Dynamite loved to laugh, crack jokes, and keep everyone entertained. As a child, he loved playing pranks on his cousins and creating memories that will be remembered with smiles and laughter for years to come. He had a great love for his family and especially his children, Dekavin Bee and La’Trell Davis. James attended Lamar Consolidated High School in Rosenberg, TX. He enjoyed barbecuing; Dynamite would often tell his Uncle Charles Ray, “I learned from the best.” Those who knew “Dynamite” loved him for who he truly was at his core. He would give you the shirt off his back. Dynamite loved joking with those around him; he might ruffle your feathers, but he always left you laughing. He was famous for saying, “The Riff don’t Raff!”—a phrase that those who knew him will always hear in his voice.

He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Davis Sr.; his stepfather, Jimmy L. Williams; his godfather, Edward “Poley” Shorty; and his beloved aunt, Mamie “Toni” Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Dekavin Bee and La’Trell Davis; his mother, Linda Marie Carter Williams; his two sisters, Adali J. Davis (Willie Parson) and Karmin Davis; his niece, Majesty Giles; and two nephews, Quivance Giles and Terrell Jones; along with a host of extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.

Though he is no longer with us physically, his laughter, sayings, and vibrant spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
